Visa

          The Consular Section of the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane is open from Monday to Friday. Visa application form could be submitted from 8.30-12.00 hours only. Visa applicants will get their passport back in the afternoon of the following working day. Passport collection time is from 13.00-15.00 hours. Please be informed that the Consular Section is NOT located within the premise of the Embassy at Kaysone Phomvihane Avenue. Its address is at No.15 Ban Ponesinuan, Bourichane Road, Vientiane Capital (near Lao-Singapore Business College).

 Applying for visa at the Royal Thai Embassy

1. Get a queue number and wait for your turn to submit your visa application form.

2. Proceed to the main building to pay the visa fee

3. You will get a receipt which will be required upon collecting your passport in the following working day from 13.00-15.00 hours.

         USEFUL INFORMATION

        1. A tourist visa will enable the passport holder to stay in Thailand no longer than 60 days. However, there are certain nationalities that could travel to Thailand with visa exemption and could stay in the kingdom no longer than 30 days. Please see the list of countries with visa exemption below (the period of stay will be reduced to 15 days when arriving through land border checkpoints between Thailand and the Lao PDR, Cambodia, Malaysia and Myanmar).

              Required Documents

              -  Travel document valid for departing from Thailand no later than 15 days from the arrival date

              -  Cash or traveler's check equivalent to 10,000 baht per person or 20,000 baht per family

              - Application form (availble at the designated checkpoints)

              - 1 photograph (4x6 cm.)

              - Passport should be valid for at least 6 months

              - Visa fee is 1,000 baht 

             3. All foreigners who apply for Tourist Visa at Royal Thai Embassies and Royal Thai Consulates-General worldwide, including eligible foreigners who apply for Visa on Arrival at designated checkpoints, will be exempted from Tourist Visa fee from  11 May B.E. 2553 (2010) to 31 March  B.E. 2554 (2011). Such arrangement is for Tourist Visa only.
