A Reception on the Occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, and Thailand’s Father’s Day 5 December 2023
On 5 December 2023, the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane organised a reception on the occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, and Thailand’s Father’s Day 5 December 2023. The reception was attended by H.E. Mr. Alounxay Sounnalath, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office and Head of the Prime Minister’s Office of the Lao PDR, and H.E. Mr. Phoxay Khaykhamphithoune, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, as Guests of Honour. The event was also attended by Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Lao PDR, Minister of Energy and Mines of the Lao PDR, Minister of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR, and President of the Lao Red Cross Society and more than 900 guests from the Lao and Thai public and private sectors, diplomatic corps, international organisations, as well as members of the Thai community.
In her opening remarks, H.E. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Lao PDR, welcomed distinguished guests and highlighted the special relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR as a family that understand, care for and help each other. H.E. Ambassador underscored the significant progress in connectivity and strengthening resilience, which coincides with the main theme of the Lao PDR’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024. She also reiterated Thailand’s readiness to support the Lao PDR in fulfilling its role as ASEAN Chair in 2024 and the Visit Laos Year 2024. On this occasion, H.E. Ambassador and the Guests of Honour proposed a toast to the good health of H.E. Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Lao PDR, and His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, the King of Thailand, as well as to the enduring friendship between Thailand and the Lao PDR.
The reception featured musical performances of Thai and Lao songs by Miss Nattawadee Puangsuwan, a Friends from Thailand volunteer, the Royal Thai Air Force Band, the AEC Harmony vocal ensemble from the Art Education College of the Lao PDR, and musicians from the National College of Arts of the Lao PDR. With the strong support of the Thai public and private sectors and the Thai community in the Lao PDR, as well as the Huay Xon Huay Xua Royal Initiative Project, guests enjoyed varieties of Thai food and drinks and services from the hospitality sector.
