On 20 April 2023, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Athsaphangthong Siphandone, the Governor of Vientiane Capital, on the occasion of her assumption of duty. Both sides appreciated the cordial relation between Vientiane Capital and Bangkok as well as Nong Khai Province. During the call, both sides discussed to further cooperation on trade facilitation, tourism, education and cultural exchanges. Ambassador Sriswasdi also expressed serious concerns towards air pollution situation caused by the slash-and-burn practice for cassava cultivation in the Mekong subregion and highlighted that this problem has detrimentally affected health of people living on the both sides of Mekong River.
