On 27 September 2023, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Lao PDR and Mr. Atipat Rojanapaibulya, Consul-General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Savannakhet, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Phoutong Khammanivong, Deputy Governor of Salavan Province. The issues that were discussed include (1) cooperation and connectivity between Salavan Province and Ubon Ratchathani Province of Thailand, especially on border trade, transport, tourism and people-to-people relations along the Mekong; (2) human resource and agricultural capacity development and building; (3) support for and protection of legal migrant workers.

 

On the same day, they had a meeting with Mr. Khamouy Thongkeo, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Salavan Province to receive a briefing on economic and trade information, as well as exchanging views on promoting border trade and how to better promote One District, One Product (ODOP) goods and tourism of Salavan Province.
