On 31 March 2023, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi, accompanied by Mr. Kawin Wiriyapanich, Director of the Office of Overseas Trade Promotion in Vientiane and officials from the Royal Thai Embassy and Royal Thai Consulate-General in Savannakhet, met with Ms. Boonheuang Carol Litdang, President of Champasak Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as representatives from Young Entrepreneurs Association of Champasak and Champasak Handicrafts Association. Both sides exchanged views on improving trade and logistics facilitation between both countries, resolving air pollution crisis caused by deforestation as well as slash-and-burn practice for cassava cultivation, and promoting sustainable tourism. Both side also discussed possibility on capacity building programmes that the Thai side could provide to entrepreneurs in Champasak, i.e., improving hospitality and tourism services as well as enhancing business skills, including marketing, packaging, standardization, and using local contents to attract tourists.
