On 15 June 2023, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Bounfeng Phoummalaysith, Minister of Health of the Lao PDR, on the occasion of her assumption of duty.

Ambassador and H.E. Health Minister discussed bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation in public health between the two countries. Many past and ongoing projects have been implemented under the MOU on public health cooperation, including those carried out by Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA). Among others are Project on Improvement of Hospital Nursing Management, Capacity Building for Lecturers of Universities of Health Sciences, and Strengthening Disease Surveillance System under One Health and Effective Cross-border Control at provincial twin hospitals along the border. Both sides also discussed ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting for Health Development (SOMHD) hosted by the Lao PDR during 19-23 June 2023.
