On 7 August 2025, H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a farewell call on Mr. Khamphaya Phompanya, Deputy Governor of Bokeo Province, on the occasion of her completion of her tenure at the end of September 2025. Ambassador Morakot was accompanied by Mr. Chulvat Narinthrangura, Director-General of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), along with officials from TICA and the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane. During the meeting, Ambassador Morakot expressed her sincere appreciation for the warm cooperation extended by Bokeo Province throughout her tenure, which she had the opportunity to visit all provinces of the Lao PDR, including two visits to Bokeo. Both sides discussed a wide range of issues related to Thai–Lao bilateral cooperation, including transboundary haze pollution, the outcomes of the installation of a forest fire monitoring situation room in Bokeo Province, handed over by Thailand in August 2024, the current flood situation in Bokeo Province, common efforts to combat cybercrime, and ongoing development cooperation projects in Bokeo Province. An emphasis was placed on the establishment of the Learning Centre for the Development of Sustainable Agriculture based on the Application of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, located at the Bokeo Technical - Vocational College, officially opened and handed over on the same day, 7 August 2025, by the Director-General of TICA. Furthermore, both sides discussed Thailand’s continued support for capacity-building projects, including medical and nursing training programs in Thailand for personnel from Bokeo Province, the provision of a power generator and financial assistance for the improvement of the tea leaf purchasing station and tea storage warehouse of Meung Tea Producers’ Cooperative, as part of the commemorative activities marking the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Lao PDR in 2025.
