On 12 September 2025, H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a farewell call on H.E. General Vilay Lakhamfong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of the Lao PDR, on the occasion of the completion of her tenure at the end of September 2025.During the meeting, both sides expressed appreciation for the longstanding and close cooperation between the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane and the Ministry of Public Security of the Lao PDR, particularly with regard to activities jointly organized to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR in 2025, including (1) Financial support for the construction and provision of equipment for the Agricultural Learning Centre of the Vanmai Coffee Cooperative in Houaphanh Province; (2)Provision of a power generator and funding for the renovation of tea leaf purchasing stations and a tea storage facility of the Meung Tea Producers Cooperative in Bokeo Province (3) Financial support for the organization of a singing, poetry recitation, and short drama competition under the theme “The Harmful Effects and Dangers of Drugs”; (4) Handover of a surveillance tower for monitoring drug trafficking in PakthaDistrict, Bokeo Province and (5) Assistance for the production of media to raise public awareness on narcotics laws. Both parties also exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in combating transnational crime, with a particular focus on money laundering, human trafficking, and cybercrime.
