On 20 February 2023, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi with a delegation from the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane met with Mr. Phuangphet Singhalas, President of Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sayaboury Province to exchange views on trade and investment promotion and facilitation. Sayaboury Province shares 647-kilometer long border with 6 Thai provinces, namely Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok and Loei. There are 4 permanent checkpoints, namely (1) Ban Na Kraseng border checkpoint, Tha Li District, Loei Province – Nam Heung international checkpoint Kaen Thao City, Sayaboury province (2) Phu Du Border Checkpoint, Ban Khok District, Uttaradit Province - Phu Du International Checkpoint, Pak Lai City, Sayaboury Province (3) Huai Kon Border Checkpoint Chaloem Phrakiat District, Nan Province – Nam Ngeun International Checkpoint, Muang Ngeun, Sayaboury Province and (4) Ban Huak Border Checkpoint, Phu Sang District, Phayao Province - Pangmone International Checkpoint, Muang Khop, Sayaboury Province, as well as 10 traditional checkpoints.
The Ambassador also paid a visit to the Technical-Vocational School, Sayaboury province, and was welcomed by Mr. Thongchan Phantumath, Director of the Technical-Vocational School and Mr. Thongdy Maovanhpheng, Deputy Director of the school. The Ambassador underscored the importance to develop skills for Lao students in order to enter the labour market as well as to promote sustainable well-being of the Lao people by equipping them with necessary skills. The Royal Thai Embassy also stands ready to partner with private sector to support the creation and promotion of professional skill development and equipment for teaching and learning in various school courses.
The Department Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand is in the process of building a learning center for sustainable agricultural development in accordance to the Principle of Sufficiency Economy for the Technical-Professional School, Sayaboury Province and create the network of farmers for organic and safe farming.
