On 18 February 2023, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi with a delegation from the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane paid a visit to Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant. On this occasion, Mr. Vorapote Uchoepaiboonvong, Managing Director, Xayaburi Power Co., Ltd., Mr. Anuparp Wonglakorn, Deputy Managing Director of Operation and Maintenance, and Mr. Kitpoat Srasomsub, Power Plant Manager welcomed and briefed the delegation on the operation and project management approach of the plant which are environmentally friendly and responsible for local communities.
Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant is located in Sayaboury Town, Sayaboury province, in the northern part of Lao PDR with a 31-year concession from the commercial operation date on 29 October 2019. It is one of the largest power plants in the lower Mekong region with the power generation capacity of 1,285 MW. The plant was built in accordance with the Mekong River Commission (MRC) specifications and recommendations and strictly complied with safety standards such as earthquake safety standards and sufficient water storage in the event of an emergency.
