On 29 and 30 June 2026, H.E. Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, visited Udon Thani and Khon Kaen provinces to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between both provinces and the Lao PDR.

In Udon Thani, the Ambassador met with Mr. Rachan Sunhua, Governor of Udon Thani Province, as well as representatives from the Provincial Chamber of Commerce and the Provincial Federation of Thai Industries, while in Khon Kaen, the Ambassador held discussions with Mr. Kajornkiet Rakpanichmanee, Governor of Khon Kaen Province, along with representatives from the Provincial Chamber of Commerce and the Provincial Federation of Thai Industries. Furthermore, the Ambassador met with Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, and the executives from the College of Public Affairs and Policy (COPA), Khon Kaen University.

During these visits, the Ambassador was given briefings on the cooperation that both provinces share with the Lao PDR, particularly with Vientiane Capital. The discussions also focused on the promotion of two-way trade and investment, as well as addressing outstanding challenges to further enhance cooperation across all sectors.
