Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Lao PDR, jointly presided over the Opening Ceremony of the construction project of National Highway No. 11 (R11), from Sang Thong district of Vientiane Capital to Khrok Khao Do village, Xanakham district of Vientiane Province.
On 20 February 2024, Mr. Ngampasong Muangmanee, Minister of Public Works and Transport, Lao PDR, and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Lao PDR, jointly presided over the Opening Ceremony of the construction project of National Highway No. 11 (R11), from Sang Thong district of Vientiane Capital to Khrok Khao Do village, Xanakham district of Vientiane Province. Also presented at the Ceremony were Mr. Peeramet Wutthithornnetirak, Director of the Neighboring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA), Mrs. Wilaikham Phosalad, Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Bunpon Wannajit, Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Daoheuang Nanthawong, Deputy Provincial Governor of Vientiane and representatives from agencies concerned.
Project of National Highway No. 11 (R11) starts from Sikai Village of Vientiane Capital to Xanakham District of Vientiane Province to Paklai District of Xayaburi Province, a total distance of 198 kilometers (Supported by NEDA around 121.98 Kilometers), connecting Vientiane via Xayaboury province to northern Thailand. R11 also links country’s eastern and western routes. It is also a strategic link between north and south roads which helps connect regional economic corridors. The project is expected to significantly reduce travel time, facilitate trade, and promote tourism between the two neighboring countries.
