On 1 November 2024, Ambassador Morakot paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Khamphane Sitthidampha, Governor of Vientiane Province, to discuss ways and means to promote bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Lao PDR across various sectors.

 

Key areas of cooperation discussed during the meeting includes cooperation between Loei Province and Vientiane Province, economic cooperation, border trade, investment promotion, protection of Thai investors in Vientiane Province, development cooperation, sustainable tourism, tourist safety enhancement, public health, infrastructure development to foster domestic and regional connectivity, suppression of trafficking on narcotic drugs, as well as the promotion of people-to-people relation which is fundamental to strengthening the relationship between the two countries that share not only borders but also cultures, religion, and language.
