On July 22, 2025, H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Phet Phomphiphak to extend her congratulations on his appointment as Head of the Office of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, on June 19, 2025. Both parties expressed their congratulations on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Lao PDR. Over the first half of 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy has collaborated with Lao Government agencies and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party to organize various commemorative activities, such as supporting the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Central Center in organizing International Children's Day, National Tree Planting Day, and Environment Day 2025. The Royal Thai Embassy also supported alternative development projects promoting the cultivation of coffee and tea as crop substitution for opium in northern Lao PDR. Notable examples include the Vanmai Coffee Cooperative in Houaphanh Province and the Meung Tea Producers Cooperative in Bokeo Province, both of which play a key role in improving the quality of life for local communities. Additionally, both sides expressed appreciation for the close cooperation between the Thai-Lao Association for Friendship and the Lao-Thai Friendship Association, which operate under the supervision of the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission.
