On 6 May 2024, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Mr. Bounchan Syvongphanh, Governor of Xieng Khouang Province, to introduce herself and discuss ways and means to strengthening the bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Lao PDR. In the meeting, both sides discussed various issues including the promotion of Thai investment in Xieng Khouang, narcotics problem, human resource capacity building, development of local products, and advancement of sustainable tourism. Xieng Khouang Province has a plan to build 4 new roads, including a route connecting Xieng Khouang Province and Bolikhamxay Province (129 km), which will be conducive to tourism connectivity between both countries after the operation of the 5th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge (Bueng Kan-Bolikhamxay) in the near future.
