ASEAN Consultative Meeting
On 29 April 2022, H.E. Mr. Jesda Katavetin, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Lao PDR and H.E. Thongphane Savanphet, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR and Laos’ ASEAN SOM Leader, co-chaired the ASEAN Consultative Meeting (ACM) at the Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel. Also presented were ASEAN Ambassadors and representatives from ASEAN Embassies in the Lao PDR.
The Meeting shared information and discussed on several issues such as latest developments in the Lao PDR, post COVID-19 economic policies in the Lao PDR and an update on the ASEAN meeting under the Chairmanship of Cambodia. H.E. Mr. Jesda Katavetin reiterated Thailand’s full support to Cambodia’s Chairmanship. The Meeting also discussed issue of common challenge on the online-scammer. Thailand also highlighted the importance of sustainable development after COVID-19 which is in line with Thailand’s role as the ASEAN Coordinator on Sustainable Development Cooperation and as the APEC 2022 Chair under the theme “Open. Connect. Balance”.
