Chairman of the Princess Maha Chakri Awards Foundation (PMCAF) and committee members visited the Lao PDR from 3 – 6 October 2023.

 On 3 – 6 October 2023, Dr. Krissanapong Kirtikara, Chairman of the Princess Maha Chakri Award Foundation (PMCAF), and PMCAF committee members visited the Lao PDR to meet with Mrs. Kimfueang Hueangmany, headmaster of Pheermai Primary School in Xekong Province, the 2023 Princess Maha Chakri Awardee from the Lao PDR.

On 4 October 2023, the Chairman and PMCAF committee members together with Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phout Simmalavong, Minister of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR, to share information about the PMCAF’s missions and activities on supporting and promoting development of teaching profession. The Chairman also informed the Minister and the executives of the Ministry about the 5^th Princess Maha Chakri Award Ceremony to be held on 17 October 2023 in Bangkok. Both sides also exchanged views on possible cooperation between Thailand and the Lao PDR on capacity building for school teacher and education development.

The PMCAF committee members also had a meeting with Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi, the Thai private sector in the Lao PDR, and  media representatives of the Lao PDR to introduce Princess Maha Chakri Awardees from the Lao PDR. The discussion between the PMCAF committee members and the Thai private sector in the Lao PDR was very informative and constructive. The Thai private sector has made significant contribution to support schools, colleges, and universities in the Lao PDR by providing scholarships, funding, and other forms of support to students and teachers at all levels. It was an opportune time for both sides to share their experiences and information about their works to support education sector in the Lao PDR as well as information about Princess Maha Chakri Award. The Thai Private sector also met with the Awardees. Further support could also be provided on capacity building and education development in Lao PDR.  

On 5 October 2023, the PMCAF committee members visited Pheermai Primary School in Xekong Province, Lao PDR, to learn about Mrs. Kimfueang’s work and plans for the school.
