On 29 April 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, Team Thailand and the Thai community in the Lao PDR co-hosted a chanting and merit-making event in tribute to the late Most Venerable Maha Bounma Simmaphom, President of the Buddhist Fellowship Organisation of Lao PDR, at Wat Phra That Luang Neua, Vientiane. The ceremony was co-hosted by the delegation of Dr. Inlavanh Keobounphanh, Vice President of Lao Front for National Development, and the Mother and Child Central Hospital of Lao PDR. It was presided over by the Most Venerable Maha Khamma Punyavichit, Vice President of the Buddhist Fellowship Organisation. In addition, H.E. Mr. Sommad Pholsena, Vice President of the National Assembly of Lao PDR, H.E. Dr.Vilayvong Bouddakham, Minister of Home Affairs of Lao PDR; Mr Vilayvanh Bouthdakham, Vice President of State Inspection Authority of Lao PDR, and Mr. Sililaththongsin Thongpheng, Deputy Governor of Vientiane Capital, also attended the event.

 

​On this occasion, H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, representatives of Team Thailand, private sector and the Thai community in the Lao PDR offered robes, religious items, and donations to the Buddhist monks and the Buddhist Fellowship Organisation of Lao PDR.
