On 26 March 2025 Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi moderated a panel discussion on “Thailand Experience: Impact of Grey Listing to Banking Sector” at the Conference on “Enhancing AML/CFT Frameworks: Lao PDR’s Path to Implement the FATF AML/CFT Global Standards for Supervision, Law Enforcement, Judiciary and MLA”. The discussion was held at the National Convention Center, Vientiane Capital. Panelists included experts from the Thai Bankers’ Association (Siam Commercial Bank), Kasikorn Bank, and Banque Pour Le Commerce Exterieur Lao Public (BCEL). During the discussion, panelists shared experiences and insights on Thailand’s efforts to implement AML/CFT standard while under grey listing by FATF, the impact of being grey listed to the overall economy and foreign direct investment situation, and measures to address emerging challenges in AML/CFT, such as mule accounts, digital currencies and money laundering through the casino sector.
