On 6 September 2024, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi attended the official ceremony marking the upgrade of the Ban Vang Local Checkpoint in Mueang Muen, Vientiane Province to an International Checkpoint. The ceremony was jointly presided over by H.E. Mr. Phoxay Khaykhamphithoune, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and H.E. Mr. Khampan Sithidampha, Governor of Vientiane Province, on behalf of the Lao PDR Government, with Mr. Kittikhun Butrakun, Deputy Governor of Loei Province, representing the Thai side.

The Ban Vang checkpoint, located across the Ban Kok Phai Permanent Border Checkpoint in Pak Chom District, Loei Province. The said Upgraded Checkpoint is expected to enhance economic opportunities by facilitating trade and tourism between Thailand and the Lao PDR. Moreover, it will further strengthen people-to-people relations between the two nations.
