Ambassador of Thailand to Lao PDR paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Sayaboury province

On 20 February 2023, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi with a delegation from the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane paid a courtesy call on Mr. Phongsavanh Sitthivong, Governor of Sayaboury province. The Meeting also attended by Mr. Phonesavanh Xaysomphan, Director of Sayabury Administrative Office and Ms. Soudaphone Duangla, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Department of Sayaboury province.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Governor for inviting her to attend the 2023 Boon Chang Ceremony which was beautifully and impressively organised and attracted more than 20,000 tourists. During the Meeting, both sides have express their readiness to further promote cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity and border security. She has also expressed her confidence that Thai investment in Sayaboury province  has play constructive roles to social, cultural and economic development of the local communities and all stakeholders and concentrate their effort to reduce the environmental impact to the province.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Thai-Lao Association for Friendship have carried out several development projects with Sayaboury province, for example, the construction project of Somboon Xayabouly Elementary School, which is the 11th  Lao-Thai Friendship School and is one of the symbols of the celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Lao PDR. Other projects include the construction and improvement of a maternity room at Muang Kop Community Hospital, and a project to build a learning center for sustainable agricultural development according to the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy for the Technical-Vocational school, Sayaboury province, etc.
