On January 30, 2025, H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Malaithong Kommasith, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Lao PDR. Both sides discussed and exchanged views on enhancing bilateral cooperation in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Lao PDR.
 
To jointly commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations, H.E. Mr. Malaithong kindly expressed his support and participation in an academic seminar on economics issues under the topic: “The Importance of Micro Credit and Microfinance Services for SMEs.” The first in a series of four seminars throughout this year will be co-organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, the Ministry of Finance, and the Bank of the Lao PDR, and and scheduled to take place on March 13, 2025, in Vientiane.
H.E. Mr. Malaithong also commended the Ambassador’s initiative to organize various activities aimed at maximizing benefits for Lao SMEs, small business owners, and the financial sector. He also expressed keen interest in exchanging experiences on models of cooperatives for farmers and small producers, SME financing, and microcredit support, which would be among the key discussion topics at the seminar.
