On 17 September 2025, H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a farewell call on H.E. Mr. Khampheng Saysompheng, Governor of Houaphanh Province, on the occasion of her completion of tenure at the end of September 2025.

Both sides noted with satisfaction on the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR in 2025. They also welcomed Thailand’s support for alternative development project to promote coffee as alternative crop for opium poppy cultivation, in particular, the financial contribution for the construction and provision of equipment for the Agricultural Learning Centre of the Vanmai Coffee Cooperative, amounting to a total of 5,450,000 baht.

On this occasion, H.E. Ambassador expressed her condolences regarding the recent flooding in HouaphanhProvince, which resulted in injuries, loss of lives, and property damages. The Royal Thai Government has therefore extended humanitarian assistance through the National Disaster Prevention and Control Committee and the Lao Red CrossSociety. Additionally, both sides also exchanged views on economic issues, connectivity, agriculture, and the mining industry in Houaphanh Province.
