On 22 April 2026, H.E. Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Viengthavisone Thephachanh, President of State Audit Organization, upon assuming her duty as the Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR. Both sides exchanged views on cooperation in the sphere of state audit both within multilateral framework under INTOSAI (International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions) and ASOSAI (Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions). The State Audit Organization (SAO) of the Lao PDR is a constitutional body established by the National Assembly in 1998, equivalent to Thailand's Office of the Auditor General (OAG). Its primary mandates include auditing the accuracy of budget formulation and amendments, as well as inspecting revenue and expenditure plans, investment schemes, financial statements, and ensuring legal compliance and operational performance.
