On August 20, 2024, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi paid a courtesy call H.E. Mr. Alounxay Sounnalath, the Governor of Champasak Province. During the call, both sides discussed various aspects of Thai-Lao cooperation including the promotion of technical cooperation in agriculture, healthcare, education and sustainable development. Both sides agreed that the promotion of border trade is vital for local economy. They also discussed on ways and means to promote Thai investment, including protection of Thai investment in the Province, cooperation and promotion of sustainable tourism, regional infrastructure and connectivity as well as the people-to-people connectivity through cultural and religious affairs. Both sides emphasized the importance of fostering closer ties between Ubon Ratchathani and Champasak Provinces. Ambassador Morakot also highlighted the role of quality investments from Thailand in driving economic growth and development in Lao PDR.
