On January 21, 2025, Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of Thailand to Lao PDR, paid a courtesy call on and had discussions with H.E. Ms. Khankeo Lamaningao, Deputy Governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR (BOL). The meeting focused on exchanging views and enhancing cooperation in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR such as an academic seminar on economics-related topics and the scholarships for staff of BOL to pursue graduate studies in Thailand.

 

The Deputy Governor agreed to co-host an academic seminar on economics, as proposed by the Thai side. The seminar, the first of its kind to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, will be held under the theme “The Importance of Microcredit and Microfinance for SMEs” on March 13, 2025, in Vientiane. BOL will also provide speakers to share their insights during the event.
