This initiative has received ongoing support from the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and the Ministry of Public Health. The cooperation has been implemented in two phases. Phase 1, from 1996 to 2001, included the support of the construction of an outpatient building, improvements of groundwater quality, provision of medical equipment, and training for Lao medical personnel in Thailand. Phase 2, from 2014 to 2021, included further development of the Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center and the Primary Accident Response and Referral Center. TICA officially handed over the projects on 4 November 2021, during the 22nd Thai-Lao Joint Commission Meeting on Cooperation held in Thailand.
