On 10 October 2026, Ms. Chana Sindhvananda, Minister, alongside Ms. Pulaporn Panichkarn, Minister Counsellor (Narcotics Control), and Mr. Wongsakorn Chaichana, Counsellor, attended a drug burning ceremony commemorating the 25^th Anniversary of the Lao National Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking. The ceremony was presided over by  Mr. Atsaphangthong Siphandone, Secretary of the Vientiane Capital Party Executive Committee.

During the event, approximately 3.9 tons of illicit drugs seized from finalised legal cases were destroyed by incineration. The ceremony aimed to raise public awareness about the dangers of illegal drugs.

The Thai Government attaches high importance to cooperation with the Lao Government in intercepting and preventing drug trafficking from production sources into Thailand or onward to third countries, as well as joint efforts in arresting drug trafficking networks and expanding subsequent investigations.
