On 22 February 2025 the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane participated in “Youth Dialogue on Labour Migration”, organized by Chevening Alumni Laos, at Lao Plaza Hotel. The event, consisting of open lecture, dialogue, and Model ASEAN+UK simulation, was attended by more than 100 university students in the Lao PDR. Mrs. Pimpida Ravirat Thanarat, Counsellor, served as one of the panelists at a panel discussion on “Labour Migration and Policy: Challenges, Data and Key Enablers for Effective Migration”, presenting information on migration trends in the region, labour migration policy in Thailand, regular migration pathways in Thailand as well as rights of migrant workers including access to health services and education. In addition, Mrs. Thanarat highlighted Thailand’s policies, as a champion country for Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, in the areas of access to health services and alternative to detention for children.
