On 24 September 2024, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi, provided financial contribution of 100,000 Baht to the Lao Tug-of-War Federation for the procurement of rubber mats for tug-of-war competitions. The contribution was received by Mr. Alounkeo Kittikhoun, President of the Lao Tug-of-War Federation.

The Lao Tug-of-War Federation plans to incorporate the tug-of-war in the 12^th Lao National Games, to be held in Vientiane in 2025. Additionally, Lao PDR will participate in a tug-of-war competition at the 33^rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) to be hosted by Thailand next year. The Lao Tug-of-War Federation will also host an international tug-of-war competition in late January 2025.

The above provision of contribution to the Lao Tug-of-War Federation is in line with the Embassy’s core policy to promote people-to-people relations by extending cooperation to various local entities and organisations to support human resource development, skills development, as well as to improve health and well-being of the Lao people and athletes.
