On 11-12 September 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane carried out a project to promote cooperation between Thailand and the Lao PDR in the field of Buddhism, which included support for the restoration of religious sites and for Buddhist education attemples in the Lao PDR. The support was provided to contribute to the construction of Pariyatti Education (Buddhist studies) Building at Sisaket Temple in Vientiane Capital, the publishing of prayer books to be distributed to Buddhist monks throughout the Lao PDR (printed by Wat Pha That Moli Lokayaram in Vientiane Capital), the restoration of Wat Nakanimit Phonexanin Bolikhamxay Province and Wat Mahantasetukaram in Vientiane Capital.

Not only does this project contribute to the continuation and dissemination of Buddhism – benefiting Buddhists in both the Lao PDR and in Thailand, who frequently travel to make merits in the Lao PDR – but it also serves to strengthen and deepen the bonds of friendship and bilateral relation between Thailand and the Lao PDR, particularly at the people-to-people and community levels.
