On 29 August – 1 September 2025, winners of the Art Competition in Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR had a fun train-riding experience, crossing the Mekong, from Vientiane Station (Khamsavath) to Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Station, for a cultural exchange trip.

This journey was filled with inspiration and creativity. Lao youth and young artists enjoyed a vibrant and colourful introduction to Thai arts and culture. The trip began with a lively stroll through Chatuchak Market, a hotspot of street arts and creative expression. Following that,    the group immersed themselves in Thailand’s contemporary art scenes in Bangkok at the Art Centre Silpakorn University, Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Museum Pier, Thachang Wangluang Riverside Galleria, River City, and Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.

During the visit, the participants also explored exquisite architecture and murals at Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), one of Thailand’s most sacred and magnificent landmarks, deepening their appreciation for Thailand’s traditions.

The trip aimed to promote learning experiences, exchanges, and connection between the youth and people of both countries through arts and culture, as well as to inspire Lao youth and young artists to return home with creativity and motivation to develop their artistic talents.

This journey was not only about crossing the Mekong, but it was also a journey on a friendship road building on the strong and special bond between peoples of Thailand and the Lao PDR throughout 75 years, leading to common prosperity in years to come.
