On 27 March 2023, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi, accompanied by Thai delegates including Ms. Thitiya Panmanee, Consul of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Savannakhet and officials from the Royal Thai Embassy, visited Agriculture and Forestry Development Center at Nongtao, Savannakhet. As an agricultural learning center of the application of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) for sustainable development, the Center comprises seven units including fisheries, animal husbandry, forestry, agriculture, land development, irrigation and rice plantations. In addition to technical knowledge dissemination, the Center provided consulting services and technical training to local farmers, communities as well as officials since 2016. During the visit, Ambassador and Director of the Center exchanged views on how to generate sufficient income to allow the Center to become self-sustaining and ready to be transferred from the Thai side to Savannakhet Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Office in 2025.
