On 28 March 2023, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi, accompanied by Thai delegates and officials from the Royal Thai Embassy, visited Savannakhet Special Economic Zone (SSEZ). After a warm welcome by Mr. Phanomkone Dararasmy, Chief Executive Director of SSEZ, the delegation attended a briefing on the overview of SSEZ, including its function as One Stop Service for investors and investment status in SSEZ. Currently, the number of 28 Thai companies in SSEZ is ranked third after Laotian and Chinese companies. Among 4,172 workers in SSEZ, the total number of 112 Thai workers comes second after Laotian workers. In the discussion, Ambassador also exchanged her views on SSEZ’s project for bonded access road from Friendship Bridge II to International Cargo Checkpoint Savannakhet Dry Port and ways to further facilitate trade and transportation among Thailand, Lao PDR, Vietnam and China.
