On 11 May 2026, H.E. Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a courtesy call on Mrs. Martine Thérer, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Lao PDR, on the occasion of the former’s assumption of duties. Both sides discussed development cooperation in the Lao PDR, particularly in the areas of human resource development, good governance, support for alternative development projects—especially the Vanmai Coffee Cooperative—the promotion of SMEs, implementation of the Lao PDR’s National Socio-Economic Development Plan, graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status by 2026, reduction of haze pollution, government measures to mitigate the health impacts of smoking, and the suppression of transnational crime, especially online scams.
