On 20 March 2026, H.E. Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Aly Vongnobountham, President of the Lao Women’s Union (LWU), at the Office of LWU in Vientiane, on the occasion of the former’s assumption of duties. On this occasion, H.E. Mrs. Aly Vongnobountham expressed her appreciation for the State Visit to the Lao PDR by Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana, during 16 to 18 March 2026. Both sides also exchanged views on ways and means to further enhance bilateral cooperation in promoting women’s role and improving their well-being, including mothers and children in the Lao PDR. Priority areas of cooperation include maternal and child nutrition, vocational skills development, and support for the rehabilitation of women affected by human trafficking.
