On 16 July 2026, H.E. Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Thongly Sisoulith, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union, on the occasion of her assumption of duty. During the meeting, both sides discussed cooperation to promote collaboration and advance youth development in Thailand and the Lao PDR. Potential areas of cooperation included enhancing digital and artificial intelligence (AI) skills among young people, providing scholarships for personnel from the Lao PDR, preventing youth from becoming victims of drug abuse and online crime, raising awareness and strengthening the ability to identify misinformation and disinformation, supporting internship opportunities for young people at Thai companies operating in the Lao PDR, promoting youth mental health counseling initiatives, facilitating study visits to Thailand for students with hearing impairments, and improving facilities of schools along the Thailand–Lao PDR border.
