On 5 September 2025, Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a farewell call on General Chansamone Chanyalath, Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao PDR, on the occasion of completion of her tenure at the end of September 2025. Ambassador Morakot expressed her sincere appreciation to General Chansamone for his support of the various initiatives and activities undertaken by the Royal Thai Embassy during her tenure. She also noted with satisfaction the close and enduring cooperation in the field of defence between Thailand and the Lao PDR. Furthermore, the Ambassador highlighted the activities jointly organised by the Royal Thai Embassy and relevant Lao authorities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations, which had brought tangible benefits to local communities. In response, General Chansamone extended his warm congratulations to Ambassador Morakot on her accomplishments over the past two years and nine months, and expressed his appreciation for the continued support provided by the Government of Thailand. He also welcomed the increasingly close bilateral relations at all levels, and expressed his hope for a rise in the number of Thai tourists visiting the Lao PDR, while encouraging further investment by Thai businesses in the country.
