On July 10, 2024, Ambassador Morakot Sriswasdi paid a courtesy call on Mr. Phet Phomphiphak, Minister of Planning and Investment of Lao PDR, on the occasion of the latter’s assumption of duty. During the meeting, both sides discussed various issues concerning Thai investment in infrastructure projects, including the Road Construction R12 Project, the Laos-Thailand Railway Project, and the Fifth Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge.

Ambassador Morakot  addressed the issue of the promotion and protection of Thai investment in Lao PDR through various incentives and the enhancement of investors’ confidence. Additionally, Ambassador Morakot highlighted the substantial contributions of the Thai private sector to the Laotian economy and local communities, including job creation, knowledge sharing, skill development for Lao workers, social advancement initiatives, and diverse scholarship opportunities. Minister Phet reaffirmed his continued support to enhancing cooperation with Thailand particularly the creation of environment conducive to investment and building investor confidence.
