On 21 May 2025, H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Lao PDR, attended the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Social Assistance Fund of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR, regarding the promotion of monastic education. The MOU was signed by Ven. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phra Thepvajarasarabundit, Vice-Rector for Planning and Development of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University,

and Dr. Viphavanh Phomvihane, Director of the Social Assistance Fund of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR and spouse of the President of the Lao National Assembly. In addition, Mr. Khambai Damlat, Vice-President of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR, Mr. Samlane Phankhavong, Vice Minister of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR,

Mr. Thongphane Savanphet, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, Mr. Chanpheng Soutthivong, Vice President of the Lao Front for National Development, representatives from Ministry of Home Affairs, members of Parliament of the Lao PDR, as well as monks from the Kingdom of Thailand and the Lao PDR, also attended the ceremony.

The MOU aims to promote monastic education, facilitate exchanges of visits of monks, promote cooperation in fundraising for construction, renovation and repair of educational facilities, developing monastic education system as well as seeking scholarship for monks.
