On 19 September 2025, H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a courtesy and farewell call on H.E. Mr. Leklai Sivilai, Minister of Public Works and Transport, on the occasion of the latter’s assumption of office and the former’s completion of tenure at the end of September 2025.
Both sides exchanged views on promoting cooperation on connectivity including land and rail, and infrastructure between Thailand and the Lao PDR, as well as in the region. Discussions included preparations for the opening ceremony of the Fifth Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge (Bueng Kan–Bolikhamxay), and updates on ongoing joint cooperation projects such as the improvement of Road No. 12 (Thakhek–Nape), the construction of the Chiangman–Luang Prabang Mekong Bridge, and the new railway bridge (Nong Khai–Vientiane).
Both sides also highlighted the importance of close cooperation between the relevant agencies of the two countries in advancing connectivity, transport, and infrastructure, which play a vital role in facilitating economic development for both nations.
