During the five-day study visit, the teachers and students visited Setsatian School for the Deaf to observe teaching and learning practices for persons with hearing impairments. They also gained insights into educational management and vocational skills development, including training in arts, baking, and computer applications, with a view to enhancing the capacities and future employment opportunities of persons with hearing impairments.

 

The delegation also visited Thai TV Channel 3 to observe the television programme production process. They attended the live broadcast of the news programme "Midday News TV3" and learned about the vital role of sign language interpreters in ensuring accessible communication through television broadcasting. The visit provided valuable perspectives on media accessibility and the dissemination of information for persons with hearing impairments.

 

The study visit provided a valuable opportunity for the participating teachers and students to acquire knowledge, practical experience, and good practices that can be adapted to strengthen education for persons with hearing impairments in the Lao PDR. It also helped enhance students' confidence, encouraged them to further develop their potential, and broadened their perspectives on future educational and career opportunities. Furthermore, the programme highlighted the importance of promoting an inclusive society in which persons with hearing impairments are empowered to participate fully and realize their full potential.
