On 9 July 2026, H.E. Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid an introductory call on Mr. Sililaththongsin Thongpheng, Chairman of the Vientiane Administration Committee, upon assuming her new position as the Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR. During the meeting, both sides highlighted the cooperation between Vientiane Capital and Bangkok Metropolitan and Khon Kaen Province under the Sister City framework. Vientiane Capital also maintains close relations with Udon Thani and Nong Khai provinces of Thailand with regular exchange of high-level visits. Both sides also discussed the issue of urban management, in which the Ambassador informed the Chairman that the Thai side expresses its readiness to share experiences in managing large cities in various areas as requested by Vientiane Capital
