On 5 December 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane hosted a reception on the occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, and Thailand’s Father’s Day 5 December 2025. The reception was attended by H.E. Mrs. Baykham Khattiya, Minister of Health of the Lao PDR, and H.E. Mrs. Phongsamouth Anlavan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, as Guests of Honour. The event was well attended by more than 700 guests, including the President of the Justice Committee of the Lao National Assembly, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Deputy Secretary of Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union, Deputy Governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR, high-level representatives of the Lao public sector, Governors of Thailand-Lao PDR border provinces, the Lao and Thai public and private sectors, diplomatic corps, representatives of international organisations, as well as members of the Thai community in the Lao PDR. On this occasion, guests observed a moment of silence to pay tribute to the passing of the late Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
Ms. Jirusaya Birananda, Chargé d' Affaires ad interim of the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, delivered welcoming remarks, noting the royal duties of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and Her Majesty’s profound contributions to the strong foundation for the close and cordial bilateral relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR. The year 2025 also marks another important milestone as it is a year to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR. The Royal Thai Embassy, Vientiane, the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Savannakhet as well as the Thai private sector in Lao PDR had organised many activities throughout the year 2025 in commemoration of such special occasion with an emphasis on activities that encourage public engagement that yields mutual benefits of peoples of both nations. Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. also expressed her congratulations and commended the Government of the Lao PDR on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Founding of the Lao PDR and the 80th Anniversary of Lao diplomacy. She reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to advance cooperation with the Lao PDR as a Strategic Partner for Growth and Sustainable Development, with a view to deliver tangible benefits to the peoples of both nations and ensure that Thailand and the Lao PDR moves forward together sustainably. On this occasion, Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. and the Guests of Honour toasted to the good health of H.E. Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Lao PDR and His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, the King of Thailand, as well as to the common prosperity and enduring friendship between Thailand and the Lao PDR.
The reception featured musical and vocal renditions of the Royal Compositions by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great by the Royal Thai Air Force Band, commemorative video paying tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, and an AI-generated Royal Thai costumes photo booth. In addition, the event was generously supported by the Thai public and private sectors, Lao private sector, and the Thai community in the Lao PDR, showcasing varieties of Thai food and drinks as well as services from leading Thai hospitals.
