On 6 August 2024 Ambassador Morakot visited Meung Tea Producers Cooperative and its tea plantation in Meung District, Bokeo Province, an alternative development program under the Mekong Tea Project. Considering that Meung District has been listed as one of the districts with the highest poverty rate in Lao PDR, the Board of the Cooperative shared with Ambassador that the establishment of this Cooperative has provided job opportunities and supported

local communities to have a sustainable and stable source of income. Tea produced by the Cooperative is certified as organic as well as Fairtrade and exported to an international market that values sustainability and quality.
