On 11 September 2026, H.E. Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Santisouk Simmalavong, Minister of Technology and Communications of the Lao PDR, on the occasion of her assumption of duties, and discussed cooperation between Thailand and the Lao PDR in areas of technology, digital development, and communications, including the organisation of Lao Digital Week 2026 in Vientiane Capital, digitalisation of the postal system, exchanges of experience in providing assistance to victims of technology-related crimes, as well as the organisation of a seminar on the prevention and suppression of money laundering linked to scam centers, particularly a discussion on preventing the use of digital assets to facilitate financial support for transnational criminal groups.
