On 30 March 2026, H.E. Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Athsaphangthong Siphandone, Secretary of the Party Committee of Vientiane Capital, upon her assumption of duty as the Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR. During the meeting, both sides highlighted the cooperation between Vientiane Capital and Bangkok Metropolitan Adminstration and Khon Kaen Province under the Sister City framework. Vientiane Capital also maintains close relations with Udon Thani and Nong Khai provinces of Thailand with regular exchange of high-level visits. H.E. The Ambassador of Thailand also expressed her gratitude to H.E. Mr. Athsaphangthong and the people of Vientiane Capital for the warm welcome extended to Their Majesties the King and the Queen of Thailand during the State Visit to the Lao PDR on 16-18 March 2026.
