On 9 July 2025, H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Anouparb Vongnorkeo, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, to extend her congratulations on his recent appointment as Deputy Minister. During the meeting, both sides exchange views on activities to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Lao PDR, promotion of sustainable development cooperation under the bilateral Technical Cooperation Plan, and alternative development projects and cooperation on drug prevention and suppression. They also discussed a study visit to Thailand by the National Regulatory Authority for UXO/Mine Action Sector in the Lao PDR (NRA for UXO), scheduled to take placelater this month, as well as cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, including candidacies of both countries in UN bodies and mechanisms and the Lao PDR’s strategies in preparation for sustainable graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) status. In addition, Ambassador Sriswasdi congratulated the Lao PDR on its role as upcoming host of the 3rd Review Conference of the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM), to be held next year in Vientiane.
