On 2 July 2025, H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Phosay Sayasone, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare of the Lao PDR, to extend her congratulations on his assumption of duties in June 2025. During the meeting, both sides reviewed the progress of the construction of the Thai–Lao Friendship Center for Social Development, the groundbreaking ceremony for which is scheduled to take place in 2025 as part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR. They also discussed various labour-related matters, including the labour situation in both countries, the demand for Lao workers in projects financed by Thai investors in the Lao PDR, the revision of the MOU on Labour Cooperation signed in 2016, capacity building for Lao workers, and the provision of financial support and essential supplies from various Thai agencies to those affected by flooding in the Lao PDR last year.
