On 28 June 2026, H.E. Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, attended a handover ceremony of a newly constructed office building at Dong Kalum Secondary School, Pak Ngum District, Vientiane Capital. The event was also honored by the presence of H.E. Dr. Daravone Kittiphanh, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR, Mrs. Leepaia Leebouapao, Director of the Vientiane Capital Education and Sports Department, Mr. Thamnong Pholthongmak, President of the Thai Business Association in the Lao PDR, Mr. Daovone Pachanthavong, Vice President of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mr. Boualay Phanouvong, Secretary-General of the Lao–Thai Friendship Association.
The initiative is part of activities commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR. Initiated by the people, it has been made possible through the generous support of private sector partners from both Thailand and Laos and implemented entirely through public participation and volunteer efforts. As part of the initiative, a Pha Pa Samakkhi (Buddhist merit-making fundraising ceremony) was organized to generate financial contributions and in-kind donations with a total value of approximately THB 2.7 million. These collective efforts enabled the successful construction of an office building and a restroom facility.

The newly completed facilities are expected to improve the working environment for teachers at Dong Kalum Secondary School, allowing them to dedicate more time and focus to lesson preparation and student care in the Dong Kalum community, a border area between Thailand and the Lao PDR. On this occasion, the Royal Thai Embassy also provided office supplies valued at 50,000 baht to support the use of the new facility. At the event, Kasemrad International Hospital Vientiane also provided a mobile medical unit to deliver healthcare services to residents of Ban Dong Kalum community.
